摘要：

    Cultural differences are becoming increasingly apparent now that business and public policy have become increasingly globalised. Awareness of these differences can be helpful in preventing and resolving misunderstandings and conflicts in daily life, personal and professional, in dealing with people from other nations and regions of the world.

    A useful method to map cultural differences is through cultural dimensions. In the public lecture Professor Martin de Jong will give at the SchoolofLanguagesand Literature at HIT (Weihai), he will discuss which cultural dimensions can be distinguished, how they work, and what their potential and limitation is. He will also give examples from different nations to demonstrate how these dimensions can be fruitfully applied by lay people.
