国际劳动节又称“五一国际劳动节”“国际示威游行日”，是世界上80多个国家的全国性节日，定在每年的五月一日。它是全世界劳动人民共同拥有的节日。我国庆祝劳动节的活动可追溯至1918年。中央人民政府政务院于1949年12月将5月1日定为法定的劳动节，全国放假一天。每年的这一天，举国欢庆，人们换上节日的盛装，参加各种庆祝集会或文体娱乐活动，并对有突出贡献的劳动者进行表彰。现在五一劳动节的假期共五天，大家今年都会怎么度过呢？之前的劳动节又发生过什么事呢？来英语角一起分享吧。

International Labor Day, also known as May Day or International Demonstration Day, is a national festival celebrated by more than 80 countries in the world，which is set on May 1st every year. It is a festival shared by working people all over the world. The celebration of Labor Day in China dates back to 1918. On December 1, 1949, the State Council of the Central People ' s Government designated May 1 as the statutory Labor Day. On this day, people across the  country put on holiday costumes, participate in various celebration gatherings or recreational activities, and commend workers who have made outstanding contributions.
